The Northern Region Oratorical Contest February 19th 2022

Lauren Bradshaw won today’s Northern Region, Department of Virginia High School Oratorical Contest. The event was held Saturday Morning at American Legion Post 74, Keswick Virginia. The oratorical contest has two segments the first covering 8-10 minute oration on a subject from the U.S. Constitution, and a 3-5 minute segment on a random subject also based on the constitution. In front of a group of judges, the contestants are scored on time and on their presentation of the subjects covered during the two segments.

Lauren’s participation in the contest is not her first, she participated in the previous year’s Post 10, 16th District, Region and Department Contests. She will be returning as the regional winner to the upcoming Department of Virginia HS Oratorical Contest to be held at the Renaissance Portsmouth-Norfolk Waterfront Hotel, Friday March 4, 2022 at 7pm. Guests in attendance were Past Department Commander and Department Judge Advocate A.B. Brown, Department Auxiliary Northern Zone Vice President Ruthann Brown, Department of Virginia Northern Region Vice Commander Glenn Yarborough, 16th District Past Commander Sonnie Dickerson.
