AD Carter, Past 16th District Commander, and Past SAL Detachment Commander 2012-13. Transferred to Post Everlasting on 28 April 2026. His contributions to the Department of Virginia from American Legion Boys State to the Sons of the American Legion was felt by those who worked with him. Funeral arrangements  will be posted tomorrow. 

The District is currently in fourth place at 96.93%. We have eight posts who have or exceeded 100% with three posts close to 100%. We are close to the Department retention goal of 90%,and  with the May goal of 100% in just a few short days, we need to reach out to those who have not renewed. Please reach out to those in arrears.

We continue to do well membership with the district at 58.69%. All posts should concentrate on renewals, especially at events like picnics and early bird functions. Overall the 16th District is in third place behind HQ Post 141, and the 17th District. 

The latest report shows the district membership at 57.68% overall with renewals at 54.54%. We are off to a great start, however we cannot rest on our laurels or bested by our rival the 17th District. Take advantage of your upcoming events to recruit retain and renew.

Congratulations to the 16th District attaining 100.02% memebership, and seven posts reaching 100% or better. We have several other posts closing in on 100% with a few weeks remaining to make the 100% national goal.  If you need assistance with membership, please feel free to contact the district vice commanders or Bob Brady membership chair.

Post Officers and adjutants you have until tomorrow to submit your Consolidated Post, Americanism, Children and Youth, Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation Reports.
